At the expiration of that time the images are covered with mother-of-pearl to such an extent that they appear to have grown in this natural manner. The Chinese people hold these shells in great reverence, believing that Bnddah rlwclir, within them. However, should a Christian chance to look upon one of the shell? it h.Tc no further value to them, as its charm is supposed to have left it.
