The Clyde Navigation Trust am responsible for an interesting and novel experiment' for testing the possibility of wireloss fog guns for the guidance of navigators in foggy weather. The test, it is believed, is thefirst of its kind, and so far the results have been satisfactory. The idea is to produce n fog signal which will offer a better guide to mariners than tho usual fog bells or horns. At- Rosenoatb Putch. on thn Clyde, whore a new bpaoon has been mounter!, one of the experimental guns has been placed. The gun is charged with gas. and at Gourock pier, about two miles distant, tho wireless apparatus has been installed. The gun is fired by means of this apparatus, and so- far the test appears to have bopn satisfactory. Kxtended experiments, however, are still to be carried out, and. should they prove successful, it is probaMo that the'fog-gun system may bo extended to dangerous recks in exposed pnrts where the wireless fiystom would remove difficulties which have hitherto been insur«aeuatable.
