AUCKLAND, April 5. • After a trial lasting five days a young married man named Hugh Scally-was acquitted at the Supreme Court on a charge of having attempted to commit rape. The accused was discharged.' The jury passed a resolution thanking Mr Justice Hosking for his courteous treatment of the jury and expressed appreciation of the manner in which he had summarised the evidence. WELLINGTON, April 4.
