The coal porters have accepted the concessions offered by the masters prior to the strike. The arrangement includes some wage concessions.

The conference between the representatives of the Commonwealth Steamship Owners' Association and the Waterside Workers' Federation is being held in private. The president of the federation (Mr W. M. Hughes, M.P.) submitted «hn amended log oh behalf of the workers, and it is being considered by the owners. The amendments as compared with the log previously submitted have not been disclosed, but it is understood that the minimum payment is not more than Is 8d per hour, instead of 2s per hour.
The men having assumed a more reasonable attitude, .the possibility of a settlement is now being hopefully regarded.
CHORISTERS AND DANCERS.
MINIMUM WAGE FIXED
MELBOURNE, January 30.
An industrial agreement has been arrivod at between., the Choristers and Dancers' Association and J. C. Williamson (Limited). It increases the wage of the firm's pantomime and musical comedy companies by 25 per cent. The minimum fixed for male choristers when in New Zealand is £3 15s per week. Chorus girls, when the company is playing in the large towns of New Zealand, are to receive £2 15s, and in the small towns £3 per week. The agreement is to last for three years, and 350 people are affected by it.
