MELBOURNE, December 2. The Taviuni steamed down to Port Chalmers yesterday morning, and was moored alongside tho M.ipourika, where she will be laid up for a time. Cargo is coming forward at a great rate just now, and it ie evident that shippers lire taking advantage of tho first oppors timity of sending away their goods, of which great quantities have been kept back owing to the strike. After being laid up here since November . 6, the Hiiddart-Parkcr Company's steamer Victoria will hn despatched tin's evening for :Lytt.elton and Wellington. Her subsequent • movements are not announced at present, but she will tako both cargo and passcngcro for the above ports. Tbs Oorrfnna will le&ve Onehunga to-day for New Plymouth and Wellington. The Kittawa left Auckland oh Monday; for Dunedin, via way ports. Sho is bring"inp a largo cargo of sugar for tho south. The Wanaka -tvill bo despatched from Wellington to-day for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff, where she will load for Auckland.

The Waitomo is due hero to-dav from Bhiff, and after loading cargo she will visit Oamaru and Timaru to fill up for Auckland.

Another Tyser liner, tho Marere, is expected to arrivo to-morrow from Liverpool, via northern porta. She will complete her discharge at Dunedin. The Mimiro is expected to arrive early this morning from Lyttelton, bringing 1420 tons of New York cargo for this port. She is at present under chartor to tho A. and A. Line.

Work on tho wharves proceeded briskly yesterday. _ Five gangs were employed on the Turakina, three gangs were discharging tho Dorset, and a similar number were discharging tho Victoria. More men were available than wero required for tho work in hand.

Tho Kaiapoi is expected to arrivo hero this evening from Oamaxu, and after landing her cargo sho will probably proceed to Bluff, afterwards loading at Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru for Wellington. The Whakatano arrived at Sydney on Monday from Montreal, and after discharging there will subsequently visit Auckland, V ellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to put out the balance of her cargo. The Whakatane is now commanded by Captain Squires. _ The four-masted schooner Salem, 698 tons, is reported to have left Columbia River on October 25 with a full cargo of timber for Lyttelton. ;Bhe is commanded by Captain Jamieson.
