Sir, —For 6ome years past I have been puzzled why the wire nufctrees upon which 1 sleep, and also the gas and 'Yiitcr pipes in the iioivso, emitted peculiar eounda upon certain occasions. I concluded that tnere was some olectrical cause, but what the nature or origin of the waves was 1 could not fathom. .Now, however, light is thrown upon the subject for I 6ee in the August number of Uhambera's Journal, in the Bcienca and Arte ooiumns, that a Air Cf.ii'pbell Swinton has ottered the explanation that the sounds wore wirekea signals. Presumably, therefore, the sounds emitted from my mattress add metallic .house fittings vero due to wireless operators around or within range of Dunedin. I shall be much obliged if any of your readers would f,ay i[ they experienced any of my observations, end ii they had /solved the riddle prior to Mr Campbell Swinton.
