ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

MARTON, November 6
A vcrdict of accidental death was recorded at the inquest on the body of Wm. Brandt, labourer, who was killed by a fall of timber at Marion yesterday morning, NELSON, November 6. A. C. Armstrong, hairdresser, of Motueka, was found dead in his saloon early this morniug with a bullet wound' in his head, He had evidently committed suicide. No causo is assigned for the act
John Egginton, who received a fracture of the base of the skull on the Clutha. River Board's steamer Clyde on Tuesday morning, died at Nurse M'lntyre's private hospital, in Balcluthii, on. Wednesday night. An inquest will be held to-day. A peculiar and painful accident occurred in the Union Company's repair yards at Port Chalmers on Wednesday evening. Just as the workmen wore leaving the premises at 5 o'clock a dray was backing out of the yard, and in doing so it collided with the rear end of a hand cart. The hand cart was whirled around with great force, and the shafts struck Mr Mitohell, the company's ' foreman electrician, on the chest, breaking two ribs and his collarbone.
