Eighty-one per cent, of the members of the Miners' Federation voted in the ballot, and the proposal in favour of the federation taking political action in accordance with the Trades Union Act was carried by a majority of 66,843.
COMBINATION OF TRADE UNIONS. BIG STRIKE FORESHADOWED. SYNDICALISM AND NIHILISM. LONDON, October 10. (Received Oct. 10, at 10.30 p.m.) The Miners' Federation resolved, with one dissentient, that a combination of the big trade unions support each other in their demands. The resolution foreshadows a national strike of the miners, railwayman, and transport workers not later than 1915 if the new programmes are not secured by other methods, Mr F. Burton, in seconding the motion, favoured syndicalism and even nihilism. He referred favourably to the methods being pursued in Dnblin.
