Negotiations are proceeding between New Zealand and the Commonwealth Committee with a view to the permanent retention of the M.awson wireless station on Macquario Island. It is understood that the Commonwealth has intimated its willingness to pay half tho cost of maintenance, but no reply has yet been received from New Zealand as to thelatter's willingness to contribute the other half.
