OTAGO LAND BOARD.

Tho monthly meeting of tho Otago Land Board concluded on Thursday evening,' the Commissioner (Mr E. H. Wilmot) presiding, and Messrs G. Livingstone ana J. C. Anderson being the other members present. The following business was transacts :— After considering a potation from householders and residents of Coal Creek Plat praying that tho wholo of. tho Bchool glebe bo retained intact, as it is the only publio reserve in tho district, the board decided to hold this matter over pending a report from the ranger. Mr Thee. M'Elligott applied to purchase the area of four acres in block 11, Cromwell district, hold by him under miscellaneous license.—Referred to ranger and Warden for reports. Ranger O'Neill forwarded a roport upon' the application of Messrs Edward Hughes and John Jos. O'Donohiuo for permission to occupy section 28, block XI, Waitahuna West district. — The application from O'Donohuo was declined, «nd that from Hughes was' referred to tho Warden, the land to bo. advertised. Mr Alex. Christie, licensee of run 424b under pastoral license, applied for a renewal of this license.—Left in tho hands of the Commissioner Mr Leslio F. Reid wrote requesting tho board to reconsider its decision of 10th ult., declining to grant his application to transfer to Mr A. M. Jordan his interest 'in miscellaneous license 2353 over part section 6, block XIV, Maniototo district—lt was decided that?,the former decision of the board in regard to this matter bo adhered

to. . . Mr John Lothian applied for permission to occupy that part of scction 6, block XIV, Maniototo district, held under yeary license by Mr IfCslio F. Reid.~Dccbr.cd; ■ but the board expressed its willingness to favourably consider an application to transfer from Mr L. F. Re:d, Mr James Riordan wrote requesting that tho board reduce the amount of va.uation for fencing on ejection 82, blook L, Benger district, over which he was recently granted an occupation lease. —This was received, the board being unable to reduco the valuaA memo, was received, from the Undersecretary for Lands with regard to the application of Mr Win, S. Barnett for exemption from residence on his scction in Brucc Land Finance Settlement.—On consideration of tli-G memo., the board decided to recommend that exemption be granted for tho time being. , Mr Richard H. Wilson applied for a five years' license over an island section 9, block XLIII, Clutha districtGranted at an annual rental of 10a. After consideration of a letter from Mr J. Jungo with respect to the recent floods having washed away the bridgo which gave access to section 60, block I, Ratline ®strict, held by him under o.r.p. 276. the board recommended that £150 bo placed on tho Estimates, provided the county contributes £75. . . , Ranger O'Neill fonvarded a report upon tho valuation of fencing on section 2, block XII Greenvale district.—Received Mr J Thurlow on behalf of tho residents of Patcaroa, wrote protesting against the application of Mr Arthur Kecgan to purchase an area of four acres in seet.on 11. block I, Upper Taieri district, but stated that at a publio meeting of the residents it was unanimously agreed to recommend that the applicant be granted one acre of the said section.—lt was decided to grant an application for one acre, Tho "Warden. Gore, fonvardod a report upon section 2, block XII, Greenvale district and stated that, the land being auriferous, there was an objection to its being let under renewable lease.—rhe area granted to Mr Gordon on a fivo years license at 2s per acre per annum, subjcct to payment of £8 for fencing, and excepting an aroa of half an aero in the northeast corner, which had been granted on a five years' license to Thomson s trustees at 2s 6d pen annum. fi Tho board was requested to hx the capital valuo of sections, 3 and 4, block XVI, Leaning Rock district, area 4ac, 3 , 14p granted under occupation lease to Mi Sydney A. Stovens.-Capit'al valno fixed at Leonard forwarded a report upon section 32, block 11, Cromwell district, and submitted a suggestion as to the cap'tal value thoroof.—Tho capital valuo was increased to 12s 6d per acre for extended area of 81 aores 1 rood 20pr. Mr R. Cockburn, on behalf of Mr Robt. Barber, applied for a renewable leaso over tho area of 4 aores, situatod to the west of section 9, block 11, Teviot district, already held by him under yearly' j' —Referred to ranger and Inspector 01 ""llanger Leonard forwarded a suggestion as to tho capital -values of sections 18 to 28 inclusive, block XVI, Tarras district. Adopted. ~ , ,r The application for scction 51, block a, rural land, Glenkenich district, under occupation, with right of purohaso from Donald M'Boath, was granted., Mr James Rearden applied to surrender section 82. block I, Bengor district, recent,y granted him under occupation lease, and applied to tako up an area of 100 acres to the south of tho same block.-Tho surrender was accopted, and the new application referred to tho ranger and warden. _ _ A number of applications for permission to transfer were'dealt with as follows:— S.g.r. lease 413, sections 2, 3, and 4, block VIII Blackstono district (John Strachnn to Donald M'ConJioll)— Approved. R.l. 47, section _6, block VII, Catlins district (Annie Matilda Baird to Wm. Leslie, jun.)—Approved. An applcation by Mary AnnCowio for rural land in tho Tuapcka district was held ovor. Messrs Archibald M'Lnrcn and Hugh M'Laron respectively applied for 100 acres, in black XII, Motatapu district, but the lx>ard decided that the land would have to bo advertised.
