WELLINGTON v. OTAGO. EASY WIN FOR THE FORMER. (Pen United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 31. Once again Wellington has proved that it is tho champion hockey centre. Otago •mot the shield holders yesterday afternoon, and after an exciting match Wellington left-the field victors. From start to finish tho game was full of incident, and although Otago' were beaten by a good margin thoy gave a surprisingly good exhibition. Otago commenced with great dash, their forwards parsing in fine style. Wellington, however, managed to stall them oft. This ended in Wellington obtaining their first goal early, Georgo Strack making no mistake.

• After this reverse the visitors attacked with determination, but tho local men never allowed tho bill to get dangerously near the goal, and a move on the part of the backs sent tho forwards racing away. They ■were playing with great dash, and Boyd, following up well, hit tho ball into the net in nippy style.

P!ay Chen became strenuous, and Dwyer Leith, the opposing custodians, were given plenty of work.. The local forwards then settled down, ar.d during an onslaught Robbie, assisted by Con. Strack, scored Wei-' lington's sixth eonl. With such odds against them the visitors did not lose courage, and eventually a combined Effort ended in Drake add : ng Otago's third goal. Wellington then pressed, i and wero conceded two centres, from the second of which Geo. Strack scored tho last goal of the match, which ended: ' 'Wellington 7-goals. Otago : 3 goals. /CANTERBURY v. WANGANUI. (Per Uxiteh Press Association.) • WANGANUI, August 31. The match between Canterbury and Wanganui was played yesterday in perfect weather. A good game resulted in.a win for Canterbury by 6 goals to 2. The first ha'f was very even, and the spell ended with scores 2 each. The visitors asserted their superiority in the last 25 minutes, and notched four more goals. Throp (3), Cummins, Huibert, and Holland scored for tho visitors, and Brown and Marshall for Wanganui. \
