PRESIDENT POISONED.
NARROW ESCAPE FROM DEATH. TOKIO, August 30. (Received Aug. 31; at 5.5 p.m.) It hae now been reyealed for the first time that Yuan Shih-Kai'6 action in precipitately massing the northern troops on the Yangtse was due to southern agents poisoning him with arsenic. He lay in a state oil collapse for many days, and only the most violent medical methods saved his life.
