MEETINGS.

The monthly meeting of the Kaikorai Branch of tho Women's Christian Temperance Union was held last Friday in the Presbyterian Hall. Letters on interesting business wero read and discussed. The-prcsi-dent (Mrs Pinfold) occupied the chair, an<l closed fhe meeting in the usual way. The Miriam Hebecka Lodge, 1.0.0. F., held its fortnightly meeting in Kensington Hall last Monday night. The new olhcors took up their respective positions, and tho business of the lodgo having been got through, tho meeting was adjourned in order to hold a progressive euchro tournament, which was followed by a dance. There was, as usual, u good attendance.. There was a large increase of membership during tho pa6t six months, and it is hoped in the coming term to add ninny more to the r/tiks of Oddfellowship. At the annual meeting of the Hillside Railway Fire Brigade, tho following officers wero elected for the next 12 months: Cantain, Mr A. D. Mundie; Lieutenant, Mr G. Brooks; foreman, Mr J. S. Dennison; sec-, rotary, Mr A. G. A. Swanson; treasurer, Mr S. K. Smith; senior branchmen, Mr G. Harrison and Mr S. R. Smith; hydrantmen,, Mr G. Swanson and Mr H. Withey (all re-elected). The " Rose of Roslyn " Juvenile Tent of Reohubitos celebrated its first anniversary in tho Roslyn Baptist Schoolroom on Thursday. Tliere was a large attendance of visitors and members, and all tho adult and juvenilo touts in the sub-district wero represented. Tho superintendent (Bio. Pcarcc) welcomed the visitors. ■ A programme 'of songs, recitations," and instrumental items wiu" given by mpmbors and visitors, after wlrich refreshments were served. Sister R. Gibb was presented with the book given by a friend of' the tent for obtaining most members for the year. The provincial superintendent of juvenile brandlics (Bro. M'lndon) gave ar. interesting address, and congratulated tho twit on the progress made. Representative brothers and sisters from the various branches I also spoke, and thanked tho tent for the enjoyable cvoninjr spent. The "Pride of Roslyn" Tent held its usual meeting in the Roslyn Baptist Schoolroom, I'.CR. Bro. Do-vis presiding. As tho hour was late, tho members having been in attendance, at tho juvenile anniversary, only routine business was transacted, and (he svllabir, was postponed. The sub-dis-trict delegate reported on the tent and initiation competition to bo held shorly. C.Il. Bro. M'lndoe (Star of the South) and'Bro. Tapp, D.Ri (Hope of Dunedin), responded on behalf of tibo visitors.
