■ The miners who aire on strike at Cbarlestown (West Virginia) again came into conflict with the watchmen employed by the coal companies to protect the work-, ings, and a. pitched battle ensued.
;•' Four miners were shot dead. There is much rioting and bloodshed throughout the 6lriie area.
The United Mine Workers of Americaare conducting the strike, which is one of the bitterest ever experienced.
Strike riots have also taken place at Lansing (Michigan), where the militia are keeping peace with difficulty.
