HOSPITAL BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Otago Hospital and Onaritable Aid Board, held last nignt, was juemicd by the chairman (Air J H. Walker), Mesdames Ferguson and Jackson, Messrs H. M. Driver, W. Blackie, J, Gumming, C. N. Scurr, J?. G. Gumming, W. 'i. Talboys, S. S. Myers, and R. 'iempleton, CORRESPONDENCE. Tho registrar oi the 'Otago University wrote requesting the board to consider the question of equipping the Hospital,with.tho ncecssary appliances tor meaioal gymnastics. —Hospital Committee to report. The secretary of the Tapanur Hospital Oammitteo wrote recommending the appointment of Mrs W, W. Mackie as a member of tho committee.—Approved. FEES FOR PATIENTS. A communication was received from tho Inspector-general containing the suggestion that boards should adopt a uniform maintenance charge of £3 3s per week in the Hospital. Mr Myers said that this opened up a big and very debatable question—too big to discuss in open board. He moved that it be referred to the Hospital Committee for consideration. Mr F. G. Cuming seconded tho (notion. The Chairman suggested that this important question be referred to the medical staff. Ho supposed that they would take rcry strong exception to it. If they let those who could afford to pay three guineas into the Hospital they would have to have much larger buildings. At the suggestion of the chairman, the matter was referred to the medical staff to report to the Hospital Committee, which would in turn report to the" board. GENERAL. Tho reports of the Benevolent, Sanatorium, Hospital, and Finance Committees were adopted without discussion, a clause in the Sanatorium Committee's report being considered in committee. The chairman' and architects advised tho acceptance of the tender of Messrs Turnbull and Jones for the supply of battery, booster, and switchboard for the sum of £383 5s complete.—Received and approved.
