COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee of tlitf Competitions Society was held last evening, when thero wore pmont: Messrs R. A. Ewing (in the chair), S. Solomon, EX'., A. F. Moss, J. L. Salmond. J. W. Smith, W. Thomson, A. C. Hanlon, F. Oalvert, arid Drs Hall and Roberts. Mr Whit-son waa granted leave of absence for six weeks. The secretary submitted the time-table for the forthcoming festival, which was approved. His Worship tho Mayor wrote regretting his inability to open the festival, as he would bo out of town at tho time. It was decided to ask Mr Stewart to appoint one of the councillors to act in his stead. The following were appointed chairmen for the various evenings: August 28, Mr R. A. Swing; August 29, Dr Hall: August 30, Mr J. H. Walker; September 1, Mr F. Calyert, September 2, Mr H. F. Moss; September 3, Mr A. C. Hanlon; September 4, Mr F. G, Duncan; September 5, Dr Roberts; September 6, Mr' J. W. Smith; September 8, Mr G. W. M'lntosh; September 9, Mr T. W. \V3uteon; September TO, Mr J. L. Salmon?!; September 11, Mr S. Solomon, K.C,; Septembor 12, Mr J, A. Park; Senternbsr 13. Mr R. A. faying. Tlie design for this year certificate was approved of, It. was decided that the winning design for the competition lost year in tho book-cover competition be adopted for the cover of the official programme this >jear.
