Speaking of the run down the ooast on Monday night, Captain Aldwell said he was greatly pleased with the Wahine'6 behaviour in the heavy head seas, of which she made light. Although sho was using only six of her eight boilers, a full pressure of steam was maintained with ease, and she steamed so well that at 5 o'clock on Tuesday morning she was well ahead of time, in~6pite of the severity of the gale, and was eased down to 10 knots for nearly an hour. The Wahine proved herself a 6plendid ship in a head sea, and shipped no' heavy water forward. Thero was little or no 'vibration, and though she was steaming at full speed, she took nothing more than heavy spray over her forcastlo head..
