TIMARU, July 22. The first meeting of the Timaru Tir« Board was held to-dny ; when, tho Mayor (Mr Angland) was appointed chairman. A difficulty cropped up in framing the estimates for the year, as apparently tho Act requires thoso to bo presented by the Olid of June. It was decidod to ask tho Minister of Internal Affairs, who fixed to-day for tho first meeting, to stato tho exact legal position. A report was received from Mr T. T. Hiipto (inspector of firo bripades) on tho plant, -water supply, and the present brigade. Soino of his recommendations were considered to bo. in excess of tho real requirements. A quantity of preliminary business was done. '
