HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES.

The following are the chief items contained in the various committees' reports to be presohtcd at the next meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board: —

The lienevolent Committee reports that 20 cases for relief have been dealt with, at a weekly cost of £10 18s. Casual cases for relief, amounting to £33 15s 9d, have been approved. One ease was declined. The request from St. Mary's Orphanage for payment for two children in that institution at the rate of 5s per week has been approved. During tlio past fortnight seven persons have been admittod to, and four discharged from the Ota.go Benevolent Institution, 188 remaining in the institution. Pay sheets and accounts amounting'to £412 14s 8d have been passed for payment. The Sanatorium Committee reports having approved of the draft block plan submitted by the architects for necessary extensions, alterations, and improvements at the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium, and having left the matter of* interviewing the Government, with a view to obtaining money to carry out the necessary works, in the hands of the cha:rnun of the board. Pay sheets and accounts amounting to £127 2s lid have been passed for payment. The Hospital Committee reports that during the fortnight, July 4 to 18, one patient has boen discharged from the Fever Hospital, and 12 remain therein. During the fortnight ended July 14 five patients have been admitted to, two discharged from, and 41 remain in the infirmary ward. Authority has been granted to invite tenders for necessary linen for -new pavilion, same to bo on the board's own sample, and for early delivery in February next. Pay sheets and accounts havo been passed "for payment amounting to—General account, £1299 lis lid; laboratory account, £23 9s lid; Campbell interest account, £5 5s 3d; building account, £800. The Finance Conimittoe reports, in reference to the letter from the Inspectorgeneral advising that the Audit Department decline to subsidy of £62 10s 4d, amount previously doductod, the secretary has boen instructed to make further application for payment of tliis amount. Pay sheets and accounts have been passed for payment amounting to £3075 10s 2d. The following are the balances of tho various accounts of the board as on the 21st inst. —namely : General account, £658 19s 3d debit; laboratory account, £618. 0s 3d credit; Campbell interest acoount, £365 3s credit; building account, £856 15s Id credit; HospitaJ Saturday account, £1035 5s 9d credit;—not credit, £2216 4s lOd, 1
