(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 21. A fireman named William Champion, aged 23 years, was seen lying unconscious on the side of the Tailway line by pac-sen-gers on the incoming Rotorua express near the Bemuera station this evening. The police at Newmarket brought hi:u into the hospital. He is (suffering from a fractured skull, and is in a critical condition. He left Auckland on the 4,25 p.m. train to Hamilton, and it is surmised that he fell off the engine, the driver oi which reported at the next citation tho disappearance of his fireman. WANGANUI, July 21. A fatal accident occurred at Xukuhau, about 15 miles from Waverley, on Saturday. At the inquiry into the death of Douglas Watt, horse'trainer, a verdict was returned that he died from a gunshot wound pelf-inflicted. The evidence disclosed that a recent court case, in which the deceased was fined for assaulting a Chinaman, had preyed on his mind.
