FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES. DEPUTATION 'TO HON. ME ALLt.\ (Fbom Odb Own Correspondent' ) WELLINGTON, June 11. The Minister of Finance (Hon., J; Allen) was waited on to-day by a deputation from the Johnsonville Town Board ; n regard to raising an additional loan from lbs State Lending Department,
Mr W. H. D. Bell, M.P., wlio introduced the deputation, said the town board had been carrying on some very expensive lighting work for which it had obtained a loan of £17,500 from the department. That proved to bo insufficient by about £1700, and the Advances Department refused to grant a Joan of that additional amount owing to the shortness of funds. The deputation therefore came to the Minister to ask his advice as to the best tourse to pursue. The Minister: My advice is to apply to the department for the 10 per cent, additional.
It was explained that the boml' had applied before. The loan was approved by Mr Poynton, and subsequently declined by Mr Campbell.
'Mr Allen : I think you had better applv again to the Advances Office for the 10 per cent. If the demands for the 10 per cent, arc too heavy I think I can meet them.
