' THE DEFENCE PEOBLEM. TRADE WITH FRANCE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, June 11. (Received Juno 11, at 10.15 p.m.) In the course of a speech at the Australasian banquet Lord Chelmsford said he had been greatly impressed by the lead which Australia had given to the Mother Country in connection with defence. He hoped that Englishmen would come to realise that everyone ought to sacrifice himself for the country 'and do what the Australians were doing. Mr Hanning (president of the feritish Chamber of Commerce in Paris) roferrad to the penalising of Australian produce in France as compared with the Argentine, especially meat. Australia was justly entitled to the most favoured nation treatment.
