TIMARU MAYORAL ELECTION
(Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, May 14. A magisterial inquiry lias been petitioned for, and is to be held ou May 26, into the validity of the late mayoral election. The petitinnei-s say: (1) There were only 28 votes between Mr Ongland, at the top of the poll, and Mr Lawkey, the next, and 42 votes were stated to bo.' informal. They assert that some were not really informal, and should have been allowed. (2) That some persons were improperly refused papers. (3) That improper influeiH'c was used at certain booths.
