Experiments are now being made with n view to preserving live fish by freezing them, in a case of ice. M. Pidot, who did valuable work in connection with liquid air, had 28 live fresh-water fish frozen into a Mock of solid ice, which he then cooled down to 4deg. below zero Fahrenheit. He kept the fish thus for two months, and when the block of ice was thawed, they came out as fresh and lively as if nothing had hapnoncd. The fish arc first put into a very little water, the temperapoint. Oxygen is introduced into it suffjt'urc of which is slightly above freezing cient to last tho fish for the desired timo. ■By a gradual process tho water is converted into ice, tho fish being preserved in a kind of ice-cako. !
