Tlio Auckland police held a miotin/r tonight and decided to form a Police Association. For some time past, it is stated, there has been grave dissatisfaction amongst menik'lvs of the local police torco regarding, principally, the conuitiuiis oi their employment, although the wages aspect will also bo taken into consideration. Amongst the new regulations it appears that quite a number of the police arc required to attend drill on their day off. This, along with other now regulations, the local force takes strong exception to. The. meeting was well attended, and there aro between 40 and 50 members of the force who aro prepared to subscribe their names immediately as members of the now association. These, it is stated, are the single men of the force at present employed here. It was agreed that married men ehould not bo appointed at this juncture, although the majority of them .ire in full accord with the movement. Tho idea at first had been to form an industrial union, but it wa6 found that this was impossible, hence the decision to form an association for the present. ■ , . . :

A similar movement is on foot in Wellington, and it is stated by those prominently concerned in tho promotion of the Auckland Association that Christchureh and Dunedin intend to follow, the example of tho northern cities.
