AUCKLAND MOTORMEN
SUGGESTION OF EXCESSIVE WORK,

AUCKLAND, March 7. The secretary of the Auckland Drivers' Union wrote to the City Council last night calling attention to the large number of tramway accidents in Auckland, which were out of all proportion to the population, and suggesting that a contributing cause was the excessive hours worked by the motormen. The writer.stated that, he understood the motormen often worked 16 to 18 hours a day. The council referred ,the letter to a committee.
