ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

(Pee United 1 Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 6. The body of a married man named Robert A. Davys, aged 40 years, an accountant of Pukc kohe, was found in tho harbour to-day. He lef: Pukekohe for Auckland on business on Wednesday, and had not been seen since. WELLINGTON, March 6. Matthias Clatworthy, shipwright agent, about 60 years, was killed at Ballena Bay, near Roseneath, this morning. He was engaged caulking tho bottom of the Harbour Board's dredge punt, when a jack, which rested on a piece of tarred timber slipped. Clatworthy was partly under the punt, which crashed on top of him, killing him instantly. Deceased, who leaves a widow and family, was at one time part owner of the yacht slip at Clyde quay, and was brought out from Homo in the seventies b'y Kennard Bros., who carried out various large Government contracts in New Zealand. A FARMER KILLED. ' A fatal accident oocurred ac Balclutha yesterday afternoon, when a very old n.nd respected farmer of Riverside, Mr Andrew Melville, was killed instantly. It appears that the deceased and Mrs Melville were driving to the freezing works, and the horso attached to th< vehicle became fractious when passing through tho gate leading to the works, with the result that ih») cart was overturned, and both occupants thrown out. Mr Melville's neck' was broken, and Mrs Melvillo sustained a broken log and severe injuries to her facc. Tho injured lady, who was rendered unconsoious, was removed to a hoitso closo by, and the body of her husband was taken charge 0 f by tho police.

A young man named William Richardson foil off a baker's cart at Kaitangata yesterday, and received painful injuries through tho wheels passing over his body. Ho was brought to tho Dunedin Hospital last night by tho express. Tho extont of his injuries has not been ascertainable, but it is believed that they arc fairly considorablo.
