CURE OF CONSUMPTION

A banker has offered Dr Friedmann a million dollars if he is able to save the life of his consumptive son-in-law. CURE NOT FOR SALE. \ SYDNEY, March 6. The State Government sought t? obtain a trial Bamplfi of Dr Friwlmann's new consumption cure, but Dr Friedmann replied that it is not for sale. Patients are treated only under the doctor's personal direction at the Berlin Institute.

Information received by the Government regarding Dr Friedmann's cure for tuberculosis was indefinite and unconvincing, and the department has cabled to the High Commissioner to secure', if possible, and forward a sample of the secret serum, which is bel:cved to bo prepared from small turtles. The authorities hero (states the New Zealand Times), far from being sceptical of the. efficacy of the scrum, are even desirous to prove, its value, but, without definite information which would enable them 'to prepare tho culture, cannot make any conclusive tests. They wish to know tlio methods adopted by Dr Friedmann in extracting tho serum. Tho local health officers havu all tiho necessary instruments and knowledge of the prooesses of treatment, and the opinion is held that Dr Friedmann i 6 giving his discovery somewhat piecomea], It is understood that the High Commissioner will apply to the Health Department of Germany, to whom the cure is said to havo been given, for fuller information regarding the culture, its method of preparation, and efficacy in proved eases. •
