DANNEVIRKE, October 5. At Ormondvillc yesterday Thomas Dickson, a young man, who had given way to drink—tho cause ascribed for his theft of various moneys from his employerswas sentenced to ono year's reformative treatment in lnvercargill prison.
WELLINGTON, October 6.
J, Stcllin was arrested in an hotel on a warrant and charged with betting on licensed premises. lie was remanded till Wednesday.
CIIRISTCHURCH, October 6.
A street collection taken up yesterday in connection with the Y.M.G.A. building fund campaign resulted in over £100 being added to the fund.
TIMARU, October 5.
The Teachers' Institute to-day adopted as a scheme for the local classification and promotion of teachers a combination of points from the other schemes previously promulgated, and .a deputation will present it to the Education Hoard on Tucs-da-v.
