The trado unions arc alarmed at their inability to compete against the great insunuico societies in enrolling members tinder the Insurance Act, There aro 13,000,000 insured workers, and the companies, have already secured 6,500,000. Mr Ward, M.l\, speaking at the Trado Union Congress, said tho unionists had been cajoled or intimidated into joining tho companies. '
The congress resolved to inquire into the alleged conspiracy between tho companies and the employers. Oilier meihbors denounced the Insurance Act as a curse to casual workers.
