ADDITIONAL DETAILS.

Frc*s Aisocitlion—By Telegraph—Copyright.

MELBOURNE, September 5. The railway collision last evening look place about 5.10. If the show train had stopped a few yards sooner than it did the disaster would have been avoided, because the suburban train would then have been able to cross in front. If it hud occurred a few seconds earlier or later one engine, would have crashed into the carriages of the other train, and the loss of life would probably have been heavier. The show train engine was running with its tender first, which, in the opinion of a railway expert, minimised the consequences, as the tender acted as a buffer. Mr Wilson was 72 years of age, and a retired farmer. Mr M'Donald \ins 61 and was a stock an<l estate agent. MINOR INJURIES, MELBOURNE, September 5. (Received Sept. 6, at 0.35 a.m.) A large number of names have been added to the list of injured. These were mostly minor cases in which the victims proceeded to their homes and did not report their injuries at the time of tho accident. It has been found necessary to amputate tho legs of a man named Smith, one of thoso injured.
