A contused wound was frequently caused by a blow from a blunt instrument or a fall Contused wounds woro attended by injury to the muscles, swelling nnd effusing blood, without porhaps any brctk in tho' skin. The application of wot dressing soon alleviated the nam and icdueed tho swelling. It: lacerated wounds the flesh wi< frequently torn and the edges of the wound torn or uneven. Such wounds wvro frequently attended with considerable losi of blood. In treating a wound of this nature great care mud bo exercised in.romoving all foreign bodies, cleansing tlio wounds, and then applying a pad moistened with antiseptic lotion, afterwards bandaging with a piooe of clean lint. Mr North doall at length with tho variolic* and causes of these wounds and the coimnon-«enso treatment of them On concluding, in: received tho hearty thatiks oT the brigade.
