Speaker Willis, arising out of tho ecenos in tho Assembly last September, when Mr Perry, after leaving the House, was brought back by the Speaker's orders and admonished. Mr Perry brought an action against tho Speaker and tho scrgcant-at-amus, claiming £1000 damages for assault. In the demurrer action following tho Supremo Court ruled tint the Speaker had no power to deal with a member once ho had left the House. Mr Willis then appealed io the High Court, which unanimously dismissed tho appeal. The Chief Justice, in delivering ludgment, said tho Speaker lad no moro powor over a member outside the Houso than ovor any other person. A disorderly person could lie removed, but it was a different tiling to bring him Kick to the Chamber and make an example of him.
