BLENHEIM, August 18. A fire occurred in the grocery store of Schauer and Neville, in the- centre of the town. The top storey wis gutted, and the stock in the axioms bolow mostly damaged by water. Tho City Fire Brigade was called out at 20 minutes past 10 yesterday morning to attend to some burning paper and refuse at the rear of Messrs Mills, Dick, and Co.'s premises in. the Octagon. The outbreak was extinguished with a few buckets of water, and the services of tlie brigade were not required.

A eccond call was received about 10:30 last evening, the occasion being an outbreak in an eight-roomed, two-storey wooden building near the top of Stafford street, occupied by Mrs Dickson, and owned by Mrs Hamaiui. It was found that the fire was in an upstairs bedroom, but the only damage done was tihe deEtruction o? a mattress and some bedding.
