THE MEAT SUPPLY.
Sin—When visiting the City Abattoirs one day last week I,was surprised to see so many poor-looking sheep hanging up in oik; of the pens. I made inquiries, and was told they, were for preserving or canning. I was also told that n. number, perlwps unknown to Mr Snowball, find their way to one of our retuil shops; and, if that, is so, I have no doubt our worthy inspector will la oh their tracks, as from a casual glance the sheep I saw must, .have wasted away to such an extent that at tho time of killing tliey must have been in a dying state, and .more fit, for the manure heap than for human food, although perhaps healthy-looking and free from disease. —I am, etc., Good Meat.
