WELLINGTON, March 23. Oliver Mowhinney, charged with breaking and entering and theft from a house occupied by Nettie Mewhinney, was today committed to the Supreme Court for trial..
The residences of Messrs W.. C. Gasquoino and Philip Nathan, near the Basilica, were entered by burglars some time between 2 and 4 o'clock this morning. An entrance was obtained 'through the windows, which had not been securely fastened. Cash totalling £7 10s and a large quantity of silverware and othei( goods were taken from tho houses.
NEW PLYMOUTH, March 23. ' The delegates to the annual conference of tho W.C.T.U. were .accorded a reception this afternoon by tho Mayor and citizens, and in the evening they attended a children's function. The business of the conference will commence to-morrow.
CHRISTCHURCH, March 23. The annual meeting of the Canterbury A. and P. Association was held to-night. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that the association had had a successful year. The retiring president in his address strongly advocated the encouragement of plant breeding. Mr M. Murphy, a member of the executive, in seconding the motion for tho adoption of the annual report, appealed to members to commemorate the jubilee of the association in 1913 by paying off the mortgage of £4000 on the ground. Sir Geo. Clifford was elected president for the ensuing year.
