GISBORNE, February 7. A grocery store and dwelling at Whatau. poho, occupied by Ma- James Murdoch, was destroyed by fire this morning. The occupant was filling a bottle of benzine and smoking a cigar at tho Game time, Iho benzine ignited.
■ WESTPORT, February 7. Tan scow Whangaroa went ashore on North Spit at Karamea as she was entering that port at half-tide' this morning. She is, however, in a safe position.
