AUCKLAND FRUIT SEASON
(Fnoit Otra Own Correspondent.)
AUCKLAND, February 8,
There is a marked improvement this year in the quality of the fmit coining to the Auckalnd market, showing that the growers are making strenuous efforts to keep down the pests. The Government inspectors regularly visit auction marts and factories, and all fruit showing over 5 per oenf. of codlin moth is tent to the destructor. So far, however, the season is about the bsst on record for clean fruit. The early apples are arriving in large quantities in splendid condition, and stone fruit, which is likewise very plentiful, is generally in the state required by Government regulations, drawers, however, arc urged to keep on spraying the apple crop all through the season, and right up to within 10 or 14 days of picking.
