AMUSEMENTS.

ALHAMBRA THEATRE. A crowded house in the Alhambra Theatre last night greeted the second performancD of the new vaudeville programme. The newcomers, Jules and Marzon (strong men), George Jones and Ettie Williams (vocal and patter comedians), all deepened the favourable impression created by their first night's performance, and George Doan makes a. welcome return to Dunedin audiences. The other members of the company (including the Anderson trio, Mabel Lynne, and Blanche Carolli) all acquitted themselves well, and added greatly to the pleasure of tho evening's entertainment. The programme will be repeated this evening. lIAYWARD'S PICTURES. The present programme of pictures being submitted by Messrs Hayward in tho Burns Hall is drawing large and most appreciative audiences nightly. The star picture is a remarkably well prepared series of films executed by the Americar. Vitagrapli Company, illustrating some of the most, dramatic scenes from " Uncle Tom's Cabin." Mrs Stowo's powerful story specially lends itself to treatment of this kind, and the rendering <rf appropriate plantation melodies by Miss l'.orenee Ilaywaid and a strong choir adds much to the effect. The other pictures in the series deal with scenic, dramatic, and comic subjects, and are all well worth their place. The same programme will bo submitted each evening until Saturday. FULLERS' PICTURES. Fullers; Pictures at the Princess Theatre last evening amused and entertained a large audience for over two hours. The "Cogwheel Railway," "Amongst the Roses "la beautifully-coloured film), and "The Pony Express Rider" are among tho best of an excellent assortment of views, which will be presented to-night for the last time. Tomorrow night there will be a complete ohango of programme, when, among the " star " films to be shown, will bo a picture of the celebrated New Zealand-bred racehorse Carbine, than whom n better never graced the turf.
