WELLINGTON, January 24. The Racing Conference , judges—Sir G. ; Clifford, Mr Friodlander, and Mr Pyne-* ea-t this morning to deal with the ViMendip case, and delivered tho following: judgment:—" In tho matter of the appeal by the Dannevirke Racing Club against tho decision of the Hawke's Bay Mptropoliian Committee reversing tho decision of tnai club in awarding the stakes for the Danne-< vii'kc Handicap, ran on November 16, to the mare Vi, the judges are of opinion that thoi'o jvoro no extraordinary oircumstancea under rule 13, imrt 24, justifying Vi's jockey from weighing , in short of weight, and therefore dismiss tho appeal and order the deposit to be refunded." The stake, therefore, 'goes to Mendip.

SALE OF YEARLINGS. (Per United Press Assocutiox.) WELLINGTON, January 21. ■ The annual sale of 'Waikanae thoroughbred yearlings took place to-day at Mr laa Duncan's private stables, Wellington. Tho sale, which was well attended by eportingj men from various parts of the Dominion, was completed by Mr Pyne, of Christchurchj Thirteen yearlings realised 3180gs, an average of 2<H|gs.
