DROWNING ACCIDENTS
DEATHS OF THREE SEAMEN
FRUITLESS RESCUE EFFORTS,

BRISBANE, January 24.
It seems that the three men (Hill, Saddler, and Martin) belonging to the Waipara, who were found drowned u> tho river, boarded the steamer Manila instead of the Waipara, and were directed to the proper wharf. They made towards the water, and Hill walked straight in. Martin went- to his assistance, and Sadler subsequently went after theothcis. All were seen struggling together in deep water. A man named Dunn, from another steamer, plunged in, but the men pulled him under. He was almost drowned, and had to struggle to free himself. The others then sank. When they were recovered their bodies were locked teg ether.
TWO GIRLS DROWNED. MELBOURNE, January 24. Two girls named Linda Pearce and Ada Blake were drowned while bathing in a wakrhole at Horsham.
