ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

(Peb United Press . Association ! .AUCKLAND, April 5. Frederick Wrigglesworth, 60 years of age, boarding at Ponsdnby, shot himself twice with a revolver. 'l\vo shots were heard, and Wrigglesworth was found in bed with a smoking .revolver in- his hand and his shirt ablaze. There was a 'bullet wound on the left temple, and another in the. left breast. Immediately previous Wrigglesworth .appeared in excellent spirits. He died in the hospital this afternoon. \ John Saunders, a wharf labourer, was struck on the back of the neck by a bag of sugar, which slipped -from, the slings. He had his spine fractured, causing, paralysis. He was removed to the hofr pital. His condition is serious. WANGANUI, April 5. A young man named' Brookie, employed in a:local brewery, had .'a..'narrow escape of being dashed'to nieces'. He was caught in some belting when trying to shift a belt, and was earned to the top of the shafting. His cries attracted the atten : tion of the engineer, who was fortunately handy, and stopped the machinery.' Brookie' .had his thigh broken, and was considerably shaken: , '' ■' I
