BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETINGS

WEST HARBOUR. The u.-unl monthly meeting of the West Harbour P/crough Council was hold last evening, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr 11. 15. Moller), Crs Crawley, Jones, Barker, Blackie, Edwards, Harrison, Forgie, and Bell. A memo, tvas received from the district traffic manager expressing-inability to delay the departure of the 12.10 p.m. train from Duncdin to Port Chalmers until 12.15 p.m. on Saturdays. He was also unable to accede to the request, to permit, access to the railway station by the north gate, which had bean closed by ■ order of the general manager.—Received.

Mr H. Lethaby wrote requesting the council to form some stops on the district road, in order to give access to his property.—Referred to Works Committee, with power to act.

Mr J. Deakcr wrote asking permission to cut some steps on the road at Inycrallen, opposite his dwelling, to give access to the footpath, and also to remove some turf from the side of the road.—Granted, subject to the inspector's approval.

Scout-master P. C. Wilkinson forwarded an invitation to the Mayor and councillors at attend the Scouts' sports and presentation of prizes. Tiie Mayor expressed his appreciation of the Boy Scout Movement generally, and trusted that councillors would extend their patronage as desired.— Agreed to. It was resolved to ask Mr E. H. Clark, M.P., to attend tho forthcoming mceti-ig of the municipal conference at Wellington as delegate for the West Harbour Council. SUTPLESIENTABT BOLL. The Mayor and Crs Blackie and Crawley were empowered to sign the district supplementary roll in terms of the act. hepoms. . The Finance Committee reported that £139 15s had been Teccived during the month, and accounts amounting to £55 15s 5d wore received for payment. It was further recommended that the council write off the unpaid rates for the years 1903-4-5-6 and V, also sundry accounts for the year 1908, amounting to £196 2s, and a further sum of £85 19s 3Jd for tho year 1909. Tho Mayor explained that the outstanding rates referred to were not recoverable, and it was desirable to write them off the hooks in order to prevent their recurring in the balance sheets by being carried .fovward from year to year.—Adopted. The Koans Committee recommended that the council form a footpath between Grant street and Athol place, in Montague street, also to kerb the footpath in Montague street,, between Castle street and Mt Mahs's property, the cost not to exceed £10.Adopted.

The Inspector reported on the work* which had been carried out during the month —Cr Harrison oxoressed satisfaction with i'ho manner in which tho surfaceman had carried out the various works in Sawyers' Bay-St. wards, and the report was adopted.

The Ranger reported that he had a list of names of owners of stray cattle, who would be proceeded against in due course. —Adopted.

ST. KILDA. The ordinary _ meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was held last night. Tho members present were the Mayor (Mr \V. T. M'l'ariand, Crs Gore, Ewiug, Thompson, Burk,. Allen, Clarke, J. D. Cameron, and Mac Donald. , COHiiESPOtfDENCE - Annie Auld wrote asking for tho formation <Jf footpath in Mills'' street to give access to her property.—Tho work to be done. J. Rhodes wrote stating that he intended to level the top of his land to correspond with Mr J, Wright's proporty, and an engineer was engaged to take exact levels which would be submitted. He thought they would bo 15ft .higher than Victoria road and from 15ft to nothing lower than at present. The writer said he had placed the land under offer-at £150 as ho recognised it ought never to have" been sold, but "lit l could not afford to make a present of it to the borough.— Received. .. > .'"The secretary of the St Kilda Cricket Club applied to have the water cut off from 31st March, a.-> it would not by required further for the season, and asking tho council tobear part of the" cost of insurance.—Received. ■ : Constable. The Works, Tramway, and Lighting Committee recommended that daymen be put on to clean street channels and footpaths; and that Bridgman street footpath be' top dressed.—Adopted.
