Mrs David M'Kellar, with her daughters Missis Maud and Vida,—have arrived in A letoria from Texas, and purpose visitiii"Utago about the middle of January. Commissioner Hay, who is in charge of the salvation Army for Australasia, and Mrs Hay are expected to arrive on a tour ot i\ew ZoEilaiid in January. Mr Frederick ClilFe, examiner to tlic Associated Board of Music, left Dunedin for (jorc b >', the second express yesterday aftern »n, subsequently proceeding to InvercatSy'> a nd leaving ' or Melbourne from the Bluff 011 Monday next. At Tuesday's meeting of the Auckland rlarbour Board the chairman (the Hon. E Mitchelson) announced (says our correspondent)- that after the next meeting of the board, on December 24, he proposed to 8044 t, ' lc board. "I have," he said, "boon chairman now for very nearly five years, and I want a rest. Ido hot want to take members by surprise;. I only want to notify them that the next meeting will be my last." Mr Ben Fuller, of the well-known New Zealand theatrical firm, who has been on a 12 months' tour of the world, returned to Noiv Zealand by the Mahcno from Sydney on Sunday. He was accompanied by his wife and Mr John Fuller, jun., the latter meeting Mr Ben Fuller and his wife at Adelaide.
There was a large and representative gathering of railway men at Invereargill on Monday evening to say farewell to one of the oldest engine-drivers in the service— Mr John Brass, —who has retired on superannuation. Mr A. M'Kenzie (locomotive inspector), who presided, presented Mr Brass with a rug and umbrella, together with a tea and coffee service for Mrs Brass. Cordial speeches were made, and subsequently, at Rnosido's Restaurant, a pleasant little social gathering gave opportunity for more good words and friendly association.
