Tliu Royal British and Colonial Society of Artists is organising an exhibition of the works of living colonial artists in connection with the Festival of Empire,
The Karl of Plymouth, in announcing the fact, said that such men as Morrico (Canadian), Mortimer Mempes, Lambert, and Bunny (Australians) had carved their way to the very 'front rank of British artists, but the atmosphere of Paris pervaded their canvases. He suggested that the exhibits for the Festival of Empire should be of work done in the colonies, and reproduce the atmosphere of their particular homes with which British artlovers are wholly unacquainted.
Arrangements have boon completed for holding a Festival of Empire at the Crystal Palace next, summer. Lord Plymouth is chairman of the council, which includes Lords Avobury. Stritlicona, Burnham, and Rothschild. £50,000 has been guaranteed towards the scheme. Lords Minto, Grey, PJuiikeit, and Solhorne,, and Sir l«alp!i Williams (Newfoundland) are members of tlio Organising Committee ,for the Colonies. It is honed that 200 civilians from tlio colon,los will (participate in tlio cycle of pageants of London's history, wherein there will be 15'000 oilier performers. The grounds will bo devoted to spectaclcs of colonial scenery and colonial industries— harvesting, shearing, timber-getting, and mining,—also colonial cinematographs and oilier pictorial industries of tho different colonies.
Tho festival will extend over May, June, and July, and its promoters liopo to securo educational results that, will help in the consolidation of tho Empire. Tho profits will go to the King's Hospital Fund.
