A SUCCESSFUL LAND SALE. No better proof of the existonco of surplus cash in Dnnedin, the confidence that residents have in the future of their city, and tho desire to establish suburban residences on tramlines could be supplied than yesterday's silo by Messrs John lioid and bons of the iiewly-laid-out township of Newmarket, cloSfl to the beach at St. Clair. The 40 allotments were a subdivision of the late Dr Coughtrey's property, and the building sites wove such as would bo most suitable for the better class of suburban residences. In anticipation of a large attendance of purchasers the sale was held in the Victoria, Hall, where there was a large gathering of speculators and bona lii-V; purchasers.
