NARROW ESCAPE MOM. DROWNING.
o (Per Usited Phf.ss Assocutiox.) ! WANGANUI, December 6. A young man, >V. Hasler, had a narrow escape from drowning while bathing in the river yesterday. He was an expert swimmer, "having won many races in the Old Country, he dived ofi the boat, and after being in the water half an hour was seized with cramp, and remembered nothing until he found himself in bed. A lad, Nelson,•who bathing with Haslev, saw the hitter sink after coming to the surface once or twice, and dived in after him. Others came to his assistance. and Hauler was brought ashore unconscious. iiosuscitative work was applied for half an hour, and a lot of water pumped out of Hasler, who recovered.
