Tlio Town Clerk, Dunedin, wrote forwarding oopy of a resolution passed at a conference of tho linrbour Board, City CVnuioil, and Bay Town Board as follows: — " That in the interest of tho city of Dunedin and the provnitt) of Otago generally this meeting urges that opposition 'he withdrawn from the proposed bill for the time being."—Beoeiveo.

Mr A. H. Tonkinson forwarded copy of ft resolution passed at a public meeting of residents of Anderson's Bay on November 38 as follows: —"That this meeting of residents of the Bay Town District approvea of tho scheme to socure tho Anderson's Bay Inlet as a public recreation reserve, and) thnt Mossrs T. Begg, T. Pryor, A. 11. Tonkiiv«m, and the mover (Mr S. S. Myers) bo appointed a committee to wait on tho Bay Town Board, and request the board to use every endeavour to have the scheme carried into offoct."

In furtherance of the motion paesed at tho ■meeting of ratepayers, Messrs T. Begg, T. I'ryoT, and A. H. Tonkinson waited on the board as a deputation. Mr Myers was unable to be present. Mr Tonkinson said the bulk of tho ratepayers wore anxious to liavo tho whole area set asido as a public reserve. Thoy had felt in 'duty botmd to hold their meeting so us to strengthen tho beard, and so h.-wo tho scheme carricd into effect. Thoy maintained that a, recreation reserve was neoessary, and no other area was so suitable. It ■was with alarm that they recognised a possibility of closo settlement and no reserves. Tho troublo was that tho Harbour Board was alßo concerned, and tho Legislature provided no machinery enabling the Harbour Board to deal with a recreation ground. Once the area was vested in the Harbour Board it would be for all time, as thoy would have to U6e it for revenuo purposes. They asked the board to use its very best endeavours to get the whole area set' asido as a recreation area for all time. T,hey were also requested to ask the board what steps it intended takrae m tho matter.

The Chairman said the board would consider tho matter in committee, and inform Iho deputation as to its decision.

In answer to Mr M'Curdy," Mr Tonkirsoti said Jic could say nothing about the liarDour Board's proposal as contained in their resolution. ' That resolution was not to ill m!°" ttlc Imy,, '' n S of ratepayers held. Diey wanted, the whole area ' Messrs Begg and Pryor also spoke, and tho iXJP.rd wont into committee to consider tho question.
