Tt states that there is only one source, of supply for the Commonwealth and New Zealand, and in that sen.se (hero is ii complete, monopoly. The committee urges that tli3 position is undesirable and detrimental lo the public interest, because it makes it exlreiw.ly difficult, if not impassible, for new competing newspapers to ootain a. cable service at reasonable vale?. It recommends the completion of the " All Red " roule, the establishment of a Commonwealth news agency at (lie High Commissioner's Office (London), (ho dissemination of news thus collected amoilj I'aiws requiring it in Australia, the establishment of a. subsidised Press Cable Association in Australia, that would give free entrance to all new-uppers with a uniform system of T<l i es based on the population and circulation, the right to select news by country newspapers, and I'iiC right'to n-o cable messages from other source.-, together with copyright lav,- fo T prrps messages.
