to tho Lighting Committee; permission to be granted subject to.its approval. .Mas-riii Kiivg called, attention to the planting of a hedge outside the boundary of Stou-ard's section.—Referred to inspector. .T. Fleming be informed that the council has the work of forming Beta street to its full width in hand, and that'ho can be supplied with any information he may require regarding levels; ithat somo'improvement be made to tho Sargood street • paths, but that permanent kerb and channels cannot bo undertaken until the next works allocation is. made; that with regard to tho petition from Jackson street,, the path be asphalted and wood kcrbed;' that the. acceptance of a. tender for the carrying out of work ill Beta, street bo' left in the hands of the Mayor and the town clerk; that the matter of payment- for compensation' to Captain Paterson in -respect of the subdivision of property in the Kaikorai bo referred to tho .Mayor and town clerk to endeavour to come to a settlement; that tho south sido of tho North Taieri road between Church and Main streets be kerbed and channelled in concrete; the engineer has been instructed to ecc Mt Roach with regard to tho break in the Charlotte street footway opposite his back entrance, with the view of getting the. same filled in, and to report on' straightening part of Main street opposite Mrs Smith's property.— Adopted. . Chapman's letter, no reduction can bo made in charges for water supplied to closets; that the communication from tho Oity Council regarding the-charges for gas service connections has been referred to the Lighting Committee,- that accounts on tile' district fund amounting' to £529 18s 7d, and £3 water loan account, be ipasscd for payment.
